# Leeds: Junior Firpo likely to make squad vs Villa

**[Leeds United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/) left-back Junior Firpo ‘should’ be included in the squad for Sunday’s meeting with Aston Villa, according to [Beren Cross](https://www.leeds-live.co.uk/sport/leeds-united/leeds-uniteds-first-choice-left-25131983).**

### The Lowdown: Firpo injury

Firpo, hailed as [‘strong’](https://www.footballinsider247.com/la-liga-expert-this-is-what-leeds-united-fans-can-expect-from-firpo/) in the past by Kevin Campbell, suffered a hamstring injury in the club’s first pre-season friendly with Blackpool back in July.

He was set to be out for [eight](https://twitter.com/apopey/status/1547107608703733766) weeks and is yet to make a senior appearance in Jesse Marsch’s first-team squad this season. The Spaniard did feature for the U21s against Southampton prior to the international break, playing [75](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/junior-firpo/leistungsdaten/spieler/374139) minutes at Elland Road in a 6-2 win, and it looks as if supporters will see him in the squad this Sunday.

### The Latest: Cross’ comments

Cross shared a Q&A on [LeedsLive](https://www.leeds-live.co.uk/sport/leeds-united/leeds-uniteds-first-choice-left-25131983) ahead of the Whites’ long-awaited return to action, discussing a number of different topics.

One of those was on injuries, to which he said ‘Firpo, like Bamford, played with the under-21s and should be on the bench at the very least this weekend’.

### The Verdict: Good news

Marsch has had to rely on centre-back Pascal Struijk at left-back so far this season, with the 23-year-old playing [every minute](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/pascal-struijk/leistungsdaten/spieler/410708) of [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) action.

Therefore, knowing Firpo could return to the squad this weekend will come as a big boost for Leeds ahead of a busy six weeks.

Leeds have [nine](https://www.skysports.com/leeds-united-fixtures) fixtures in all competitions before domestic football stops in November for the World Cup, so hopefully, Firpo will be back to full fitness in the coming weeks, challenging Struijk for a starting spot.
