# Leeds: Kenny tips Forshaw to leave

**[Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/leeds-united-could-bin-forshaw-in-january-kenny/) pundit and former Leeds United goalkeeper Paddy Kenny has tipped Adam Forshaw to leave the club in January.**

### The Lowdown: Forshaw’s return

The 29-year-old has missed a whopping [71](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/adam-forshaw/verletzungen/spieler/121257) games for Leeds over the past few years due to a hip problem.

However, Forshaw has now returned to full fitness and made his first start for the club in [697](https://theathletic.co.uk/2786904/2021/08/24/adam-forshaws-697-days-of-agony-and-why-he-can-finally-now-look-forward-to-his-premier-league-dream/) days against Crewe Alexandra in the Carabao Cup.

The central midfielder has also made all [three](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/adam-forshaw/leistungsdaten/spieler/121257) of Marcelo Bielsa’s Premier League matchday squads this season, however, Kenny thinks he could be next to leave.

### The Latest: Kenny’s comments

Kenny was talking to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/leeds-united-could-bin-forshaw-in-january-kenny/) about Forshaw’s future at Elland Road.

The 43-year-old thinks the Whites could look to cash in on the midfielder in the New Year when he would then have just six months remaining on his [contract](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/adam-forshaw/profil/spieler/121257).

> “I think there’s a real possibility that he might go in January.
>
> “If he isn’t pushing for the first team, I don’t see why they wouldn’t try and get something for him before he leaves at the end of the season.
>
> “It’s been difficult for him because we know he’s had his injury problems.
>
> “But unless he comes and does something different and gets a run in the team, I can only see him moving on really.”

### The Verdict: Not likely

Leeds didn’t add to their central midfield ranks this summer, with [Victor Orta](https://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/sport/football/leeds-united/exclusive-victor-orta-explains-leeds-uniteds-summer-transfer-window-stance-on-midfielder-3366421) recently revealing that Forshaw’s return to fitness was one of the reasons why a midfield acquisition didn’t materialise.

Should Forshaw, on [£60,000-a-week](https://www.sportekz.com/football/leeds-united-players-salaries/), remain fit throughout the campaign, his presence will almost be like a new signing after being sidelined for so long.

You’d expect that, should he stay healthy, a new contract could be forthcoming for Forshaw, who was on the books during Leeds’ [2019/20](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/leeds-united/kader/verein/399/plus/0/galerie/0?saison_id=2019) title-winning season, so a January move may not be on the cards as Kenny thinks.
