# Leeds: Kevin Campbell heaps praise on Junior Firpo

**Leeds United fans should be hugely excited about new signing Junior Firpo, according to former Premier League striker Kevin Campbell.**

### The Lowdown: Leeds snap up Firpo

The Whites have made their latest move in the transfer market, [signing](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11715/12349947/junior-firpo-leeds-sign-barcelona-full-back-for-undisclosed-fee-as-ezgjan-alioski-replacement) the 24-year-old from Barcelona in what looks like an intriguing piece of business.

The Brazilian [struggled to oust Jordi Alba](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/65/Show/Spain-Barcelona) as the Blaugrana’s first-choice left-back last season, but he should now come in as a regular for Leeds following the [exit of Ezgjan Alioski](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11715/12349459/ezgjan-alioski-leeds-united-announce-departure-of-macedonian-wing-back-after-four-year-stay).

### The Latest: Pundits waxes lyrical over left-back

Firpo could be an exciting prospect and La Liga TV pundit Campbell has no doubt about his ability, outlining to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/la-liga-expert-this-is-what-leeds-united-fans-can-expect-from-firpo/) why Leeds fans should look forward to seeing him. He said:

> “Firpo is incredibly fit, quick and strong. He is really athletic.
>
> “I think he will fit right into what Leeds want to do because technically he is very good, you have to be to play for Barcelona.

> “I’d say defensively, he is better than Alioski as well.
>
> “He hasn’t started that many games for Barcelona but you cannot read too much into that given that they have Jordi Alba ahead of him.
>
> “He has looked good when he has played so Leeds fans, you can get very excited.”

### The Verdict: Great signing for Whites

Firpo seems to be a perfect replacement for Alioski – if anything, the fact that he is an out-and-out left-back could make Leeds an even more balanced outfit.

The 24-year-old enjoyed a [92.9%](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/351252/Show/Junior-Firpo) pass completion rate in the Champions League last season, which suggests he will thrive in Marcelo Bielsa’s [ball-playing style](https://www.sportbible.com/football/news-take-a-bow-reactions-footage-of-marcelo-bielsas-third-man-concept-in-training-20210323).

Firpo is also at an age where he should mature further in the coming years, potentially becoming a key figure over a long period for Leeds. With Campbell a regular analyst of Spanish football, for him to talk up the new Whites signing is very encouraging.
