# Leeds: Kjetil Knutsen interested in Elland Road vacancy

**Bodo/Glimt manager Kjetil Knutsen is thought to be interested in taking over at [Leeds United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/), according to [Beren Cross](https://www.leeds-live.co.uk/sport/leeds-united/knutsen-leeds-united-slot-gallardo-26197456).**

### The Lowdown: On Leeds’ radar

The Whites have been linked with a number of managers in recent days, with Knutsen name-checked as a potential candidate in the [media](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1731314/Leeds-five-candidates-replace-Jesse-Marsch-sacked-premier-league-news).

The 54-year-old plays an [attacking 4-3-3](https://www.transfermarkt.com/kjetil-knutsen/profil/trainer/22987) formation and has won the manager of the year award on [three occasions](https://www.sussexexpress.co.uk/sport/football/brighton-and-hove-albion/who-is-kjetil-knutsen-front-runner-to-replace-graham-potter-at-brighton-3836210#:~:text=Knutsen%20has%20achieved%20great%20success,in%202019%2C%202020%20and%202021.) while in charge of Bodo/Glimt.

He’s been [linked](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1731314/Leeds-five-candidates-replace-Jesse-Marsch-sacked-premier-league-news) with a move to the Premier League before, and it looks as if he is keen on the idea of replacing Jesse Marsch.

### The Latest: Cross’ claim

Whites journalist Cross ran a Q&A for [LeedsLive](https://www.leeds-live.co.uk/sport/leeds-united/knutsen-leeds-united-slot-gallardo-26197456) on Thursday, discussing a number of topics at Elland Road, including the search for a new manager. When asked if Knutsen had been interviewed for the job, Cross said:

*“I understand Knutsen would, unsurprisingly, be interested in the position, but as it stands he’s not towards the fore. Things may of course change.”*

### The Verdict: One to watch?

It now appears as if Leeds’ search for a new manager is up in the air after they failed with moves for [Carlos Corberan](https://www.footballinsider247.com/leeds-united-manager-carlos-corberan-quits-the-race-after-being-offered-18-month-deal/), [Andoni Iraola](https://twitter.com/SkySportsPL/status/1623660634935001088) and [Arne Slot](https://twitter.com/VI_nl/status/1624042083643273220), so Knutsen could still be a smart alternative.

He is [known](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1731314/Leeds-five-candidates-replace-Jesse-Marsch-sacked-premier-league-news) for his ‘aggressive style of play’, something that would surely be of interest to Elland Road officials and has a positive record with Bodo/Glimt, averaging [1.95](https://www.transfermarkt.com/kjetil-knutsen/profil/trainer/22987) points per game in [202](https://www.transfermarkt.com/kjetil-knutsen/profil/trainer/22987) matches.

Therefore, this could be one to watch following Cross’ claim, however, it doesn’t look as if Knutsen is first-choice by any stretch of the imagination, and if Leeds had their way, a deal for Slot could be finalised in the coming days.
