# Leeds: Omar Colley update emerges

**Leeds United and Newcastle United are keen on a move for Sampdoria defender Omar Colley, who has now changed agency, according to [Clubdoria46](https://www.clubdoria46.it/2022/01/04/calciomercato-sampdoria-omar-colley-cambia-agente-premier-league-vicina/).**

### The Lowdown: Colley profiled

### The Latest: Leeds keen

He has recently switched agents to try and finalise a move to England, with Colley now busy preparing for the Africa Cup of Nations.

### The Verdict: Avoid

Leeds don’t have a shortage of [centre-backs](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/leeds-united/kader/verein/399) at Elland Road, with Marcelo Bielsa even able to call upon right-back [Luke Ayling](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/luke-ayling/leistungsdaten/spieler/67420) and midfielder [Kalvin Phillips](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kalvin-phillips/leistungsdaten/spieler/351749) to fill in if required.

As we know, Phillips is out of action until [March](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11715/12506691/kalvin-phillips-and-liam-cooper-unavailable-for-leeds-united-until-march-due-to-injuries), leaving Bielsa with a [limited](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/leeds-united/kader/verein/399) number of options in midfield, with Victor Orta [eyeing](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-leeds-united-in-january-transfer-u-turn-as-orta-lays-groundwork-for-two-signings/) a defensive and attacking midfielder this month.

On that basis, the Whites’ priority should be to bolster the middle of the pitch before looking at any further defensive additions, so allowing Everton and Newcastle to battle it out for Colley over the coming weeks wouldn’t be a disaster.
