# Leeds: Patrick Bamford signed new deal up to 2023, report reveals

**Leeds United star Patrick Bamford has reportedly extended his stay at Elland Road until 2023, acting as a huge boost for anyone of a Whites persuasion.**

### The Lowdown: Bamford excels for Leeds

The 27-year-old has overcome some previous struggles to become one of the star men at Leeds these days, excelling upon their return to the Premier League. Bamford has [scored 15 times](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/109670/Show/Patrick-Bamford) in 35 league appearances this season, also chipping in with seven assists, outlining the effectiveness of his all-round game.

The striker’s form could even see him [make England’s Euro 2020 squad](https://theathletic.com/2576161/2021/05/10/ornstein-bamford-secretly-extends-deal-pfa-awards-confusion-wycome-could-sue-abraham-guehi-futures/?source=emp_shared_article) this summer, although that remains to be seen.

### The Latest: Striker extends stay at Elland Road

According to a fresh report from [The Athletic](https://theathletic.com/2576161/2021/05/10/ornstein-bamford-secretly-extends-deal-pfa-awards-confusion-wycome-could-sue-abraham-guehi-futures/?source=emp_shared_article)‘s David Ornstein, Bamford discreetly signed a new one-year extension to his current Leeds deal, keeping him at Elland Road until 2023.

The journalist revealed: “A careful look at the Football Association’s intermediary transactions list published in March — covering February 1, 2020, to February 1, 2021 — shows an ‘updated registration’ for Bamford.

“It seems to have gone under the radar but The Athletic has learned that last summer the 27-year-old signed a one-year contract extension that means he is actually tied to Leeds until June 2023.”

While it doesn’t guarantee that the Englishman won’t move elsewhere before then – Liverpool are [mentioned](https://theathletic.com/2576161/2021/05/10/ornstein-bamford-secretly-extends-deal-pfa-awards-confusion-wycome-could-sue-abraham-guehi-futures/?source=emp_shared_article) as being interested in him – it is stated that the Whites are now in a ‘position of strength’.

### The Verdict: Huge boost for Whites

This revelation comes a massive boost for Leeds, with Bamford such an important piece of Marcelo Bielsa’s jigsaw, leading the line superbly this season and more than justifying his [£34,000](https://salarysport.com/football/player/patrick-bamford/) weekly wage.

His goals and assists are both vital, of course, but his work-rate has also stood out, with his fitness levels clearly [exceptional](https://punditarena.com/football/daniel-hussey/patrick-bamford-leeds-marcelo-bielsa-training/) thanks to working under Bielsa. Indeed, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has hailed that very trait in the 27-year-old as “[outstanding](https://theathletic.com/2576161/2021/05/10/ornstein-bamford-secretly-extends-deal-pfa-awards-confusion-wycome-could-sue-abraham-guehi-futures/?source=emp_shared_article)“.

The hope is that Bamford remains at Leeds until 2023 and beyond as he approaches the peak years of his career.
