# Leeds: Pete O’Rourke reacts to Raphael Guerreiro links

**Journalist [Pete O’Rourke](https://twitter.com/SportsPeteO?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor) has been reacting to the rumours linking [Leeds United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/) with a move for Borussia Dortmund left-back Raphael Guerreiro.**

### The Lowdown: Guerreiro links

The Whites appear to be [light](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/leeds-united/kader/verein/399) at left-back, with both Junior Firpo and Stuart Dallas currently out through injury.

Centre-back [Pascal Struijk](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/pascal-struijk/leistungsdaten/spieler/410708) has been used at left-back for the opening three Premier League fixtures, with rumours emerging over a move for Guerreiro last week.

Journalist [Ben Jacobs](https://www.givemesport.com/88048118-leeds-looking-at-exciting-move-for-56-cap-euros-winner-at-elland-road) said he’s ‘heard’ Leeds are ‘looking at’ a potential move for the Portugal international, and O’Rourke has been giving his thoughts to the links.

### The Latest: O’Rourke reacts

When asked by *The Transfer Tavern* if Guerreiro would be a statement signing for Leeds, O’Rourke said:

> “It’d be huge signing Guerreiro. Been some top clubs across Europe linked with him so if Leeds were able to, it’d be a real coup and a real statement.
>
> “Seems unlikely that he would leave Borussia Dortmund right now who can offer Champions League football.”

### The Verdict: Unlikely?

Even though the Whites could do with a left-back, Jesse Marsch has [hinted](https://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/sport/football/leeds-united/jesse-marschs-left-back-revelation-shines-light-on-likelihood-of-further-leeds-united-transfers-3814779) that he is happy with his options, name-checking both Struijk and youngster Leo Hjelde as cover for Firpo.

Therefore, you’d expect that a move for Guerreiro, who is on [£80,000-a-week](https://salarysport.com/football/player/rapha%C3%ABl-guerreiro/) and has begun the campaign as [first-choice](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/raphael-guerreiro/leistungsdaten/spieler/170986) with Dortmund, is unlikely, as O’Rourke mentions.

Kai Wagner is another left-back who has been [linked](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/leeds-still-in-talks-for-kai-wagner/) with a move to Elland Road, so hopefully, Victor Orta will bring in at least one more player before the September 1 deadline, whether that be a full-back or an attacker.
