# Leeds: Phil Hay plays down Raphinha to Bayern Munich rumour

**Leeds United have had ‘no contact’ with Bayern Munich regarding the potential transfer of Raphinha in the [January transfer window](https://www.givemesport.com/1754870-january-transfer-window-2022-when-does-it-open-when-does-it-close-and-which-players-are-going-to-move), according to journalist Phil Hay.**

### The Lowdown: Raphinha linked with Leeds exit

The Whites are going through a tough period at the moment, with poor results on the pitch compounded by a string of [injuries](https://www.premierinjuries.com/injury-table.php) to key players.

Raphinha has been a standout performer for Leeds, [scoring eight times](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/300447/Show/Raphinha) in the Premier League in 2021/22, but he has been [linked](https://www.leeds-live.co.uk/sport/leeds-united/raphinha-bayern-munichs-radar-according-22572703) with an exit for Bayern next month.

Fortunately, there doesn’t appear to be a huge amount of truth in the rumour, if a new update is to be believed.

### The Latest: Hay gives positive Raphinha update

Taking to [Twitter](https://twitter.com/PhilHay_/status/1475124785017462787?s=20) to respond to a question about Raphinha, Hay confirmed that Bayern have not spoken to Leeds over a move, providing a definitive seven-word verdict.

He stated: “Leeds have had no contact from Bayern.”

### The Verdict: Leaving in the summer?

To lose Raphinha midway through the season, with the likes of Kalvin Phillips and Patrick Bamford [experiencing injury problems](https://www.premierinjuries.com/injury-table.php), would feel like a hammer blow in Leeds’ campaign.

They simply must keep hold of the Brazilian until the summer at least, with former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy [describing](https://www.leeds-live.co.uk/sport/leeds-united/danny-murphy-raphinha-leeds-united-21371575) him as ‘wonderful’ in the past and [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/19/Show/England-Leeds)‘s metrics showing him as by far the Whites’ best performer this term.

It may be the case that the 25-year-old seeks a transfer once this season comes to a close, at which point it would be hard to begrudge him a move, especially if he has ensured that Leeds pull away from the relegation fight.
