# Leeds: Phil Hay reacts to Manchester City fixture change

**[Leeds United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/) correspondent [Phil Hay](https://twitter.com/PhilHay_/status/1584618066121719808) has been reacting to an off-field update regarding the Whites in the last 24 hours.**

### The Lowdown: No win in eight

Things haven’t been going well for Jesse Marsch at Elland Road, with the club currently without a [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) win since [August](https://www.skysports.com/leeds-united-results). The Whites have drawn twice and lost six of their last eight top-flight fixtures – form which leaves them in the [bottom three](https://www.premierleague.com/tables).

It doesn’t get any easier for Marsch, who is preparing to take his side to Liverpool on Saturday evening with the backing of the Leeds board.

### The Latest: Fixture change

It was [confirmed](https://twitter.com/LUFC/status/1584547068001009669) on Monday afternoon that Leeds’ scheduled Boxing Day fixture against Manchester City has been moved to December 28th, while their first fixture of 2023 against West Ham United is now on January 4th.

[Hay](https://twitter.com/PhilHay_/status/1584618066121719808) took to Twitter to react to the update on Monday evening, sarcastically calling it ‘magic’.

> Weeks and weeks without a game and then you get your Boxing Day fix at 8pm on a midweek night. Magic. [https://t.co/bEgSfe5zeN](https://t.co/bEgSfe5zeN)

### The Verdict: Not ideal

Leeds will have to wait even longer to return to action following the World Cup, with supporters not getting the chance to watch the Whites on Boxing Day.

\[freshpress-poll id=”413390″\]

It isn’t ideal news for those who had already made plans, with the game chosen for broadcast by [Prime Video](https://www.leedsunited.com/news/team-news/30550/live-tv-broadcast-selections-made-for-festive-period). Traditionally, clubs play on Boxing Day, but Leeds will have to wait another 48 hours to face Pep Guardiola’s side, and it’ll be interesting to see who is in the Leeds dugout for that fixture.
