# Leeds: Phil Hay drops worrying Calvin Ramsay update

**[Leeds United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/) correspondent [Phil Hay](https://theathletic.com/3340078/2022/05/31/leeds-transfer-news-kristensen/?source=ukdailyemail&campaign=711528) has claimed that there is a ‘high likelihood’ that Calvin Ramsay will join Liverpool over the Whites.**

### The Lowdown: Elland Road talks

Leeds were granted permission to enter [talks](https://www.footballinsider247.com/leeds-united-ramsay-talks/) with the [‘confident’](https://www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/aberdeen/news/paul-sheerin-lavishes-praise-on-teenager-calvin-ramsay_441808.html) defender (as hailed by his coach Paul Sheerin) at the end of April. Aberdeen green-lighted a summer sale as they need the funds and are holding out for a [‘significant’](https://www.footballinsider247.com/leeds-united-ramsay-talks/) seven-figure fee for their exciting right-back.

The 18-year-old enjoyed a brilliant breakthrough campaign in 2021/22, contributing to [10 goals in 33 games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/calvin-ramsay/leistungsdaten/spieler/633652), but despite apparent talks with the Whites, a move to Yorkshire may not go through after all.

### The Latest: Hay’s Ramsay claim

Hay shared a story for [The Athletic](https://theathletic.com/3340078/2022/05/31/leeds-transfer-news-kristensen/?source=ukdailyemail&campaign=711528) on Tuesday morning regarding Leeds’ transfer plans following a move for Brenden Aaronson.

He stated that Whites chiefs ‘know there is a high likelihood of Ramsay opting for Anfield over Elland Road’.

### The Verdict: Put faith in Drameh?

It looks as if Leeds will look to bring in a full-back over the summer, with [Luke Ayling](https://www.leedsunited.com/news/team-news/29927/luke-ayling-undergoes-surgery) and [Stuart Dallas](https://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/international/stuart-dallas-set-to-be-out-for-up-to-six-months-as-leeds-boss-jesse-marsch-confirms-surgery-was-a-success-41621365.html) sidelined heading into Jesse Marsch’s first full season in charge at Elland Road.

By the looks of it, that may not be Ramsay, which would be a worry as Leeds chiefs are keen to secure his services. However, the Whites manager should be able to call upon Cody Drameh after the youngster returned from a hugely successful loan spell at Cardiff City.

The 20-year-old won the Bluebirds’ [Player of the Season](https://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/sport/football/leeds-united/leeds-united-loanee-wins-player-of-the-season-accolade-as-part-of-personal-awards-double-3676492) award despite only moving to south Wales in January. Therefore, it may not be a disaster if Leeds miss out on Ramsay and bring in a more experienced versatile full-back instead, as they already have a hugely promising right-back on the books in Drameh.
