# Leeds: Whites plotting Chris Wood reunion

**[Leeds United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/) are believed to be plotting a move for Newcastle United striker Chris Wood.**

### The Lowdown: Elland Road history

The New Zealand international moved to Yorkshire from Leicester City back in 2015 and enjoyed two productive seasons with the Whites. He scored [44](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/chris-wood/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/108725) times in [88](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/chris-wood/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/108725) appearances at Elland Road and made the move to the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) in 2017 by joining Burnley, who were then in the top flight.

Now with Newcastle United, the 30-year-old – who has been labelled [‘tremendous’](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/newcastle-chris-wood-joelinton-verdict-23425347) by Les Ferdinand – has made just [two](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/chris-wood/leistungsdaten/spieler/108725) Premier League starts this season, with Magpies boss Eddie Howe [generally preferring](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/23/Show/England-Newcastle) Callum Wilson up front.

### The Latest: Leeds eyeing Wood on loan

[Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/leeds-united-mull-over-wood-swoop-sources/) shared a story on Saturday morning, revealing that Leeds – and by association club owner Andrea Radrizzani – are plotting a move to re-sign Wood.

They claimed that the Whites want a centre-forward alternative to Rodrigo and Patrick Bamford and cited a possible loan swoop for the Newcastle marksman.

### The Verdict: Short-term solution?

A loan move for Wood for the second half of the season would give Jesse Marsch another solid attacking option in what could be a crucial period for the Whites.

Bamford has struggled for [fitness](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patrick-bamford/verletzungen/spieler/183334) and [form](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patrick-bamford/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/183334) in 2022, and with Leeds possibly in for another relegation battle this term, having Wood to call upon may prove to be a wise move.

He may not be viewed as the long-term solution in attack, but [New Zealand’s all-time record goalscorer](https://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/football-chris-wood-makes-history-as-all-whites-dominate-fiji/D42MIAVFEJZ45QYAVRXGXOMHIA/) knows where the net is at Elland Road from his previous spell at the club, so this could be one to watch as January draws ever closer.
