# Leeds: Whites planning new deal for Jack Harrison

**[Leeds United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/) are planning to tie attacker [Jack Harrison](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/jack-harrison/) down to a new deal at the club.**

### The Lowdown: Harrison’s future up in the air

The 26-year-old has been an impressive player for the Whites, playing a key role in them return to the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) in 2020 and [scoring 30 goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jack-harrison/alletore/spieler/417346) in total.

Speculation has surrounded Harrison’s Leeds future of late, however, with Newcastle United one of the clubs [linked](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/newcastle-united-news/newcastle-premier-league-jack-harrison-transfer-news-updates/) with signing him ahead of a potential exit in the January transfer window.

The winger stayed put at Leeds, however, and now a big update has emerged over his future at Elland Road.

### The Latest: New deal incoming?

Taking to [Twitter](https://twitter.com/PhilHay_/status/1621502973393395712?s=20&t=pnPoXeYOfVoit6JOaQFgvw), Hay reiterated Jesse Marsch’s claim that the club are now intending to offer Harrison a new deal, with his current contract [expiring](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jack-harrison/profil/spieler/417346) next year:

> “The plan is now to tie Harrison to a new deal.”

### The Verdict: Needs to play better

This news may possibly divide opinion between supporters, with Harrison someone who has done well overall but hasn’t always impressed this season.

\[freshpress-quiz id=“418869″\]

The 26-year-old has [only scored once](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/317896/Show/Jack-Harrison) in 17 Premier League appearances, which is a poor return for an attacker player, although four assists have at least come his way.

If Harrison is to warrant a new long-term deal, he needs to deliver more consistently in the final third, as he did when Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink [hailed](https://motleedsnews.com/matchday/jimmy-floyd-hasselbaink-praises-absolutely-magnificent-delivery-from-jack-harrison-for-rodrigo-goal-in-leeds-united-win-v-chelsea/) his ‘absolutely magnificent’ cross for Rodrigo’s goal against Chelsea earlier this season.

The positives still clearly outweigh the negatives with Harrison, though, and his average of [1.4 tackles](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/317896/Show/Jack-Harrison) per game in the league in 2022/23 highlights his off-the-ball work.
