# Leeds: Phil Hay confirms Junior Firpo injury

**[Leeds United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/) defender Junior Firpo missed his team’s 2-1 defeat away to Crystal Palace through injury, reliable journalist Phil Hay has confirmed.**

### The Lowdown: Leeds beaten at Palace

The Whites made the trip to Selhurst Park for a [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) clash on Sunday afternoon, looking to pick up a victory on the road.

Patrick Struijk may have given Leeds the lead early on with a well-taken finish but things went downhill after that, with Palace scoring twice to secure the win.

Firpo was missing from the [matchday squad](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/spielbericht/index/spielbericht/3838022) in south London, and Hay has since shed some light regarding the Spaniard’s absence.

### The Latest: Firpo injured after Villa clash

Taking to [Twitter](https://twitter.com/PhilHay_/status/1579131910110212102?s=20&t=t_2pLIOuHuDpgbLZvSPH-Q) after the match, Hay revealed that the left-back suffered an injury after the 0-0 draw at home to Aston Villa last weekend.

The Athletic reporter stated:

> “Firpo had an injury issue after the Villa game so wasn’t involved today.”

### The Verdict: Left-back issues

Leeds seem incapable of ridding themselves of [injury problems](https://www.premierinjuries.com/injury-table.php) these days, with numerous players always seeming to be out at the same time, all over the pitch.

With Firpo and Stuart Dallas both unavailable, it means that left-back is [a real concern](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/leeds-united/kadernachposition/verein/399) for Marsch at the moment, with Struijk [far from a natural](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/pascal-struijk/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/410708) in that role even though he is performing solidly there, achieving a 7.56 [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/355609/MatchStatistics/Pascal-Struijk) rating for his display against Palace.

The hope is that Firpo’s injury is not serious – he has been hailed by Kevin Campbell as ‘[incredibly fit](https://www.footballinsider247.com/la-liga-expert-this-is-what-leeds-united-fans-can-expect-from-firpo/)‘ – and that he may be in contention to start against Arsenal next Sunday as the Premier League leaders head to Elland Road.
