# Leeds: Rodrigo de Paul tipped to be potential huge signing

**Rodrigo de Paul could be a ‘massive’ signing who makes Leeds United even stronger next season, according to former Whites goalkeeper Paddy Kenny.**

### The Lowdown: De Paul linked with Leeds move

The Argentine has impressed hugely for Udinese this season, chipping in with [nine goals and assists apiece](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/125547/Show/Rodrigo-de-Paul) in Serie A – in his last five matches he three goals and four assists, and [Whoscored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/125547/Fixtures/Rodrigo-de-Paul) have named him man of the match in seven of his last ten games.

De Paul has been continually [linked](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-transfer-rumours/leeds-whites-confident-of-signing-rodrigo-de-paul/) with a club-record summer move to Leeds, as Marcelo Bielsa looks for a sprinkling of stardust to add to his squad.

The [£34.2million-rated](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/rodrigo-de-paul/profil/spieler/255901) attacking midfielder is wanted by other clubs as well, like [Liverpool](https://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/liverpool-transfer-news-reds-make-contact-with-rodrigo-de-paul-agent), so there could be a summer bidding war for his services.

### The Latest: Kenny talks up signing

Speaking to [*Football Insider*](https://www.footballinsider247.com/paddy-kenny-delivers-de-paul-verdict-amid-latest-repoted-twist-in-leeds-united-pursuit/), Kenny believes De Paul has the quality to be a real difference-maker at Elland Road, coming straight in as a regular and improving the starting lineup:

> “They’ve got to strengthen, definitely. You’ve got to strengthen the starting XI. Leeds needs to sign, not squad players, but players who are playing in that team every week.
>
> “They need to be even stronger than they have been this season. De Paul is one who will be pushing that team and getting in the starting XI.
>
> “I’m sure they’re looking to strengthen and consolidate what they have done this season and he could be massive and a massive part of that.”

### The Verdict: A potential game-changer

The key for Leeds is indeed signing a few players who walk into the ‘best’ XI next season and De Paul is most certainly one of those.

He is all-round talent who produces constant end product from midfield, as highlighted above, as well as excelling in the less-heralded aspects of the game.

De Paul has averaged [1.2 tackles per game](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/125547/Show/Rodrigo-de-Paul) in the league this season and he possesses a work-rate that would fit right in at Leeds.

A current tally of [19 caps for Argentina](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/rodrigo-de-paul/profil/spieler/255901) further outlines the 26-year-old’s pedigree and he could be a superb signing if the Whites manage to get a deal over the line.
