# Leeds: Sam Greenwood teases return from injury

**Leeds United forward Sam Greenwood has teased a return to injury on social media, [LeedsLive](https://www.leeds-live.co.uk/sport/leeds-united/leeds-united-striker-comeback-greenwood-23093571) report.**

### The Lowdown: Greenwood’s absence

Greenwood, labelled as a player with [‘immense’](https://www.footballinsider247.com/whelan-leeds-have-the-new-ward-prowse-on-their-hands-as-unbelievable-footage-emerges/) ability by Noel Whelan, has been out of action for five weeks with a knee problem.

The centre-forward made his Premier League [debut](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sam-greenwood/leistungsdaten/spieler/532178) back in December and earned a first senior [start](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sam-greenwood/leistungsdaten/spieler/532178) for the Whites in an FA Cup defeat to West Ham.

The 20-year-old only lasted 45 minutes against the Hammers before making way with a knee problem and has since undergone [surgery](https://twitter.com/leedsutdacademy/status/1482052268308455427) to repair the issue.

### The Latest: Teasing return

As reported by [LeedsLive’s Joe Donnohue](https://www.leeds-live.co.uk/sport/leeds-united/leeds-united-striker-comeback-greenwood-23093571), Greenwood has teased a return from injury on Instagram.

He has posted images of himself wearing football boots for a second time, indicating he is back out on the grass following his knee problem.

### The Verdict: Good news

[Junior Firpo](https://www.leeds-live.co.uk/sport/leeds-united/leeds-united-striker-comeback-greenwood-23093571) could be brought back into the side against Manchester United this weekend, and this update from Greenwood is a welcome one.

Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper are also on track to make returns from injury [over the coming weeks](https://www.leeds-live.co.uk/sport/leeds-united/leeds-united-striker-comeback-greenwood-23093571), and all four may well be needed soon after [Stuart Dallas and Leo Hjelde](https://www.leedsallover.com/leeds-united-sweating-on-double-injury-blow-as-dust-settles-around-everton-defeat/) hobbled off against Everton at the weekend.

A return timescale for [Patrick Bamford](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/football/59750044) is also unknown, so having Greenwood back fit will give Marcelo Bielsa another option with his main talisman starting just [five](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patrick-bamford/leistungsdaten/spieler/183334) games all season.
