# Leeds: Sky Sports share possible Weston McKennie turning point

**[Leeds United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/) target Weston McKennie could miss Juventus’ clash with Monza on Sunday, amid ongoing transfer speculation, [Sky Sports](https://sport.sky.it/calciomercato/2023/01/25/juventus-mckennie-leeds-calciomercato-news) report.**

### The Lowdown: Opening offer

The Whites appear to be open to the idea of bringing in a new midfielder before Tuesday’s deadline and seemingly have McKennie on their radar.

An opening bid worth €28m (£24.6m) has [reportedly](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1618381149432320001) been made by Elland Road officials, with [Fabrizio Romano](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1618381149432320001) claiming that personal terms have already been agreed.

Juventus are thought to be holding out for an agreement closer to [€35m](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1618381149432320001) (£30.8m), and it looks as if a transfer may gather pace over the coming days.

### The Latest: Sky Sports update

[Sky Sports Italy](https://sport.sky.it/calciomercato/2023/01/25/juventus-mckennie-leeds-calciomercato-news) shared a story late on Wednesday evening regarding McKennie’s future, highlighting Leeds’ opening offer.

They added that ‘the deal could reach a turning point and that the right day for closing could be that of Monday 30 January’, which may see the midfielder miss Juventus’ meeting with Monza a day earlier.

### The Verdict: Fingers crossed

Mateusz Klich sealed an [emotional](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwjhjZDq3rz8AhVNFcAKHclkDHkQFnoECA4QAw&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.bbc.com%2Fsport%2Ffootball%2F64170739%23%3A~%3Atext%3DMateusz%2520Klich%2520is%2520set%2520to%2CDC%2520United%2520the%2520reported%2520destination.&usg=AOvVaw1ug6C2FKFC0kYVW2YpKSOl) Elland Road exit earlier this month, so there definitely appears to be room for another midfielder in [Jesse Marsch](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/jesse-marsch/)’s squad.

Tyler dams, Marc Roca and Adam Forshaw are the club’s only senior defensive and central midfield [options](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/leeds-united/kader/verein/399) on the books, with Adams and Forshaw potentially [both missing](https://twitter.com/PhilHay_/status/1618602564597198849) this weekend’s FA Cup trip to Accrington Stanley.

Therefore, McKennie, who can play in a [variety](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/weston-mckennie/profil/spieler/332697) of midfield roles, could be a shrewd signing late in the window as he would offer plenty of [experience](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/weston-mckennie/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/332697) at the highest level for both club and country and has already played alongside Adams and Brenden Aaronson for the USA.
