# Leeds: Whites tracking Timo Hubers

**Leeds United are tracking FC Koln defender Timo Hubers ahead of a possible summer swoop, according to [The Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10684137/Newcastle-West-Ham-Crystal-Palace-Leeds-keen-sign-6m-German-defender-Timo-Hubers.html).**

### The Lowdown: Hubers profiled

The 25-year-old has established himself as a regular in the Bundesliga over recent months, starting [12 of the last 13](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/timo-hubers/leistungsdaten/spieler/236981) league games for Koln.

His contract runs until [2023](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/timo-hubers/profil/spieler/236981), and the [6 foot 2](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/timo-hubers/profil/spieler/236981) centre-back appears to be at the peak of his powers with a career-high £2.7m [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/timo-hubers/marktwertverlauf/spieler/236981) valuation.

He was named as a [substitute](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/1-fc-koln_rb-leipzig/index/spielbericht/3588201) against Jesse Marsch’s RB Leipzig earlier in the season, and it seems as if the new Leeds manager could be working with the German next season.

### The Latest: Leeds interest on Hubers

[The Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10684137/Newcastle-West-Ham-Crystal-Palace-Leeds-keen-sign-6m-German-defender-Timo-Hubers.html) shared a transfer story on Hubers on Monday, name-checking Leeds with an interest.

Premier League rivals Crystal Palace, Newcastle, Southampton and West Ham are also tracking the defender, who could be on the move for just £6m over the coming months.

### The Verdict: Defensive shake-up?

The Whites have had a season to forget when it comes to goals conceded, shipping [68 in 31 games](https://www.premierleague.com/tables), so Victor Orta and Marsch could be interested in shaking up the club’s defensive ranks.

Neither Marcelo Bielsa nor Marsch have had a [settled centre-back pairing](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/leeds-united/ausfallzeiten/verein/399) all season, with recent [reports](https://www.footballinsider247.com/leeds-united-koch-offers/) suggesting that Robin Koch could be on the way out in the summer.

Should that be the case, Hubers could be viewed as a possible replacement, with the [aerially strong](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/296983/Show/Timo-H%C3%BCbers) Koln brute also [capable](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/timo-hubers/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/236981) of covering at full-back and in a holding midfield role.
