# Newcastle United: Magpies could sign Michy Batshuayi

**Journalist Sacha Tavolieri has revealed that [Newcastle United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/newcastle-united-news/) could sign Michy Batshuayi ahead of both Leeds United and Everton.**

### The Lowdown: Out of favour

After a stunning [five](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/michy-batshuayi/transfers/spieler/179184) loan spells away from Stamford Bridge, Batshuayi is still finding himself falling out of favour at Chelsea as his contract ticks into its final 12 months.

The Belgium international has [not](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/michy-batshuayi/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/179184) yet made an appearance for the Blues this season, and so does not seem to be in Thomas Tuchel’s long-term plans.

### The Latest: Newcastle interest

Taking to Twitter, [Tavolieri](https://twitter.com/sachatavolieri/status/1561989989608611841) has revealed that the St. James’ Park could be one of the ‘solutions’ for Batshuayi in terms of leaving Chelsea, alongside Leeds, adding that he ‘would not suit’ a move to Everton:

*“About the possible arrival of Michy #Batshuayi to #EvertonFC: Been told the system setup by Frank #Lampard would not suit the player’s football well. #Leeds & #Newcastle could be other solutions until the end of transfer window. #Chelsea leaning towards a definitive sale.”*

### The Verdict: Pedro alternative?

Watford striker has been [strongly linked](https://twitter.com/MsiDouglas/status/1562118315392307202) with a move to the North East this window, but if a move for him ends up falling through, then Batshuayi could be seen as a good alternative.

Already with a decent amount of Premier League [experience](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/michy-batshuayi/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/179184/plus/0?saison=&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=GB1&pos=&trainer_id=) under his belt, playing for Crystal Palace as well as Chelsea, the 28-year-old certainly knows where the back of the net is, with an impressive [161](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/michy-batshuayi/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/179184) senior goals for club and country combined over the course of his career so far.

Alexander Isak, a centre-forward also capable of playing on the wing, looks [set to become the club’s big marquee signing of the summer](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1562424951860146176), so adding Batshuayi on the cheap alongside the towering Sweden starlet would immediately solve the attacking depth at St. James’ Park.
