# Leeds: Jesse Marsch personally requests Julian Quinones deal

**Jesse Marsch appears to be driving [Leeds United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/)‘s pursuit of Atlas attacker Julian Quinones.**

### The lowdown

[The Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-11067507/Leeds-axe-goalkeeper-Kiko-Casilla-one-year-left-remaining-contract-club.html) report that key figures at Elland Road are due to hold a meeting on Monday to discuss transfer targets as the start of the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) season looms.

One of the players said to be under consideration is Quinones, the 25-year-old who [can play anywhere across the frontline](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/julian-quinones/profil/spieler/416090).

Leeds have [missed out](https://twitter.com/apopey/status/1553836886405386240) on young Belgian target Charles de Ketelaere to Serie A champions AC Milan, and it seems that Marsch may have picked out the Colombian as an alternative.

### The latest

Mexican newspaper El Sol de Durango reported ([31 July, page 62](https://www.pressreader.com/mexico/el-sol-de-durango/20220731/page/62), via [MOT Leeds News](https://motleedsnews.com/transfers/leeds-united-jesse-marsch-requests-signing-of-julian-quinones-as-bad-news-emerges-for-selling-club/)) that Marsch has personally requested that Leeds complete a deal for Quinones.

With Ligue 1 outfit Strasbourg also circulating, the report stated that there could be ‘bad news’ for Atlas ‘in the coming days’, adding that it may be ‘only a matter of time’ before an official transfer bid arrives for the Colombian.

### The verdict

The Quinones deal could actually prove to be a fairly straightforward one for Leeds to execute. That’s because his price tag isn’t particularly high – Foot Mercato journalist Sebastien Denis says that the 25-year-old available for just [£4.2m](https://motleedsnews.com/exclusives/exclusive-jesse-marsch-really-likes-julian-quinones-leeds-united-would-need-to-pay-4-2million/).

On paper, that looks like a snip for the Whites, who have banked just over £97m from exits this summer and spent £97.8m themselves on six new players (via [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/leeds-united/transfers/verein/399)).

However, the question is whether they *should* make the move for a player who hasn’t proven himself in Europe.

Quinones did [score 14 goals and provide nine assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/julian-quinones/leistungsdaten/spieler/416090/plus/0?saison=2021) last term, earning a place in the [Liga MX Team of the Season](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-11064045/Leeds-offered-chance-sign-Colombian-Julian-Quinones-missing-Charles-Ketelaere.html) as his team won the title, no doubt catching the eye across the Atlantic. Whether he could carry over that form to the English top flight is another matter.
