# Leeds: Whites interested in Michy Batshuayi

**[Leeds United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/) are interested in a summer move for Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi, according to [Marca](https://www.marca.com/futbol/premier-league/2022/06/03/629a38dd46163f3a0f8b45bf.html).**

### The Lowdown: Impressive Besiktas loan

Batshuayi was described as [‘unstoppable’](https://metro.co.uk/2017/10/24/chelsea-striker-michy-batshuayi-is-a-priceless-talent-says-blues-legend-pat-nevin-7023281/) back in 2017 by Pat Nevin, and he lived up to those comments last season. The 28-year-old spent the 2021/22 campaign in Turkey with Besiktas, netting [14](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/michy-batshuayi/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/179184) league goals and registering [five](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/michy-batshuayi/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/179184) assists in [33](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/michy-batshuayi/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/179184) games.

The Belgium international duly took his senior career goal tally for club and country to [161](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/michy-batshuayi/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/179184), and with him now entering the final 12 months of his Stamford Bridge [contract](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/michy-batshuayi/profil/spieler/179184), it looks as if the Whites are keen to take him to Elland Road.

### The Latest: Leeds linked with Batshuayi

Spanish outlet [Marca](https://www.marca.com/futbol/premier-league/2022/06/03/629a38dd46163f3a0f8b45bf.html) shared a Premier League transfer round-up on Wednesday evening, looking at all 20 top-flight clubs.

When it came to Leeds, they included Batshuayi in the ‘interested’ list alongside Marc Roca, who now looks [set](https://twitter.com/PhilHay_/status/1536967428336410624) to become the club’s third summer signing.

### The Verdict: Mystery striker?

[Phil Hay](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/leeds-transfer-news-jesse-marsch-eyes-striker-phil-hay/) claimed shortly after the Whites secured their top-flight status on the final day of 2021/22 that the club are looking to sign an unnamed Premier League striker.

Batshuayi could well prove to be that mystery target, and a transfer could be one which makes sense, especially given his contract situation in London.

The Chelsea marksman has netted [15](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/michy-batshuayi/detaillierteleistungsdaten/spieler/179184) Premier League goals in [77](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/michy-batshuayi/detaillierteleistungsdaten/spieler/179184) games and has come off the back of an impressive year in Turkey, so he could provide solid competition to Patrick Bamford. Also, with a [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/michy-batshuayi/profil/spieler/179184) valuation of just £9m, this could be one to keep an eye on.
