# Rangers: Ryan Kent could be sold to Leeds United

**Glasgow Rangers could now lose Ryan Kent once the transfer window opens this summer.**

### The Lowdown: No new deal yet

Even though the board at Ibrox have [reportedly](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/rangers-fc-news/ryan-kent-contract-talks-spfl/) agreed to offer Kent a new deal, there is still no guarantee that he would sign it.

\[freshpress-poll id=”339788″\]

He only has [14](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ryan-kent/profil/spieler/279457) months left on his current contract, which reportedly holds a [£20m](https://www.footballinsider247.com/rangers-exclusive-value-of-ryan-kent-release-clause-revealed-as-leeds-still-keen/) release clause, and given that Transfermarkt value the winger at just [£12.6m](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ryan-kent/marktwertverlauf/spieler/279457), you’d have to expect any bids close to that clause would seriously test the resolve of Ross Wilson and Giovanni van Bronckhorst unless they can convince him to extend his deal.

### The Latest: Leeds monitoring

As per [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/leeds-united-set-sights-on-signing-18-goal-assist-ace-20m-will-seal-deal/), Leeds United are now monitoring Kent’s situation ahead of a potential move in the summer, and a source from the Yorkshire club has revealed that he still remains on their radar, despite the departure of Marcelo Bielsa.

The Premier League side could make a fresh offer for Kent, should they avoid relegation down to the Championship.

### The Verdict: Get the contract sorted!

While a potential transfer fee of £20m for Kent would be tempting, should the Whites end up paying his release clause, the Teddy Bears’ priority should be tying him down.

Hailed as ‘[world class](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/jurgen-klopp-liverpool-steven-gerrard-23282265?_ga=2.175274146.1255727315.1646654938-1219525052.1645718861)‘ over the last few matches by Light Blues legend Derek Johnstone, Kent has really shown that he can perform on the big stage. Scottish football journalist Andrew Dickson called him a ‘[big-game player](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/rangers-fc-news/ryan-kent-borussia-dortmund-europa-league-spfl/)‘ after an impressing showing against Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Europa League, as he helped the Gers reach the quarter-final stage of the competition.

£20m would be a [record](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/glasgow-rangers/rekordabgaenge/verein/124) coup for them, but surely Kent is worth even more than that to van Bronckhorst’s team at the moment.
