# Leeds: Whites open preliminary striker talks

**[Leeds United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/) have opened preliminary talks to sign a new versatile forward this month, according to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-leeds-open-preliminary-talks-to-sign-striker-buy-to-loan-discussed/).**

### The Lowdown: Wober in

The Whites have already brought in a [versatile](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/maximilian-wober/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/263361) defender this month, with Max Wober penning an Elland Road contract through to [2027](https://www.leedsunited.com/news/team-news/30787/leeds-united-complete-max-wober-deal).

The 24-year-old arrives from Red Bull Salzburg and will provide competition at both centre-back and left-back under [Jesse Marsch](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/jesse-marsch/).

Attention now seems to be set on bolstering the club’s ranks in the final third, with [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-leeds-open-preliminary-talks-to-sign-striker-buy-to-loan-discussed/)‘s Wayne Veysey sharing an update in the last 24 hours.

### The Latest: Attacker update

Veysey has reported for [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-leeds-open-preliminary-talks-to-sign-striker-buy-to-loan-discussed/) that Leeds are in the market for an attacker who can play out wide or through the middle, with preliminary talks underway.

He added that a number of different transfer ‘formulas’ have been discussed inside Elland Road, one of which is a loan-to-buy move.

### The Verdict: Good news

This update will come as welcome news for Whites supporters, who haven’t seen first-choice striker Patrick Bamford score a competitive senior goal since [2021](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patrick-bamford/alletore/spieler/183334).

He has endured a number of [injury issues](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patrick-bamford/verletzungen/spieler/183334), with [reports](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-patrick-bamford-set-for-extended-spell-out-in-new-leeds-united-blow/) suggesting that he has suffered another setback following recent surgery. That has left Rodrigo as the [only natural experienced centre-forward](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/leeds-united/kadernachposition/verein/399) available to Marsch, so hopefully the club can bring in another such player relatively quickly.
