# Leeds United: Agent reveals Mohamed Elneny interest

**The agent of Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny has revealed that Leeds United made an offer for the player last month.**

### The Lowdown: Elneny’s contract situation

Elneny, who has been with the Gunners since [2016](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mohamed-elneny/profil/spieler/160438), has made just [one](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mohamed-elneny/leistungsdaten/spieler/160438) Premier League start this season.

The Egypt international did [play](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mohamed-elneny/leistungsdaten/spieler/160438) against the Whites in the Carabao Cup back in October and is out of contract at the Emirates at the end of [June](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mohamed-elneny/profil/spieler/160438).

He has made [140](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mohamed-elneny/leistungsdaten/spieler/160438) appearances for Arsenal during his six-year stay, but it seems as if his days in the capital could be numbered due to his contract situation along with the number of sides keen on his services.

### The Latest: Leeds offer

As reported by [Sporx](https://www.sporx.com/elneny-icin-besiktas-ve-g-saray-aciklamasi-SXHBQ960887SXQ), Elneny’s agent, Alan Nazmy, confirmed that a number of clubs made an offer to sign the defensive midfielder last month.

Leeds, along with Newcastle and Watford, were just three sides who made a winter window bid for Elneny, however, Mikel Arteta blocked an Arsenal exit.

### The Verdict: Can see why

As we know, Leeds failed to add to their midfield ranks last month, despite Victor Orta’s wishes to bring in [two](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-leeds-united-in-january-transfer-u-turn-as-orta-lays-groundwork-for-two-signings/) and making multiple [bids](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1553733/Leeds-transfer-news-Brenden-Aaronson-Red-Bull-Salzburg) for RB Salzburg’s Brenden Aaronson.

The club were after a [defensive midfielder](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-leeds-united-in-january-transfer-u-turn-as-orta-lays-groundwork-for-two-signings/) due to Kalvin Phillips’ absence, so it’s easy to see why Orta moved for Elneny.

He has plenty of Premier League and international [experience](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mohamed-elneny/leistungsdaten/spieler/160438), and with Leeds having just [four](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/leeds-united/kader/verein/399) senior midfield options, it will be interesting to see if the club go back in for Elneny, should he become a free agent in July.
