# Leeds: Whites eyeing move for Ben Brereton Diaz

**[Leeds United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/) are eyeing a late summer move for Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton Diaz, according to reports.**

### The Lowdown: Orta’s scouting mission

The 23-year-old has less than [12 months](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/blackburn-rovers/berateruebersicht/verein/164) remaining on his contract at Ewood Park, and having been one of their [standout performers](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/158/Show/England-Blackburn) over the past year, he has caught the [attention](https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/brereton-diaz-blackburn-transfer-injury-23745137) of a few [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) clubs.

[Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-leeds-united-in-ben-brereton-diaz-transfer-mission/) reported in July that Victor Orta had sent scouts out to watch the forward in action after holding a long-term interest, and it seems as if that has now been reignited heading into the final few days of the transfer window.

### The Latest: Leeds continue Brereton Diaz pursuit

Reliable journalist [Alan Nixon](https://www.patreon.com/posts/everton-line-up-71070901) claims (via [Yorkshire Evening Post](https://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/sport/football/leeds-united/leeds-united-remain-keen-on-attacker-as-former-whites-man-joins-hometown-club-3822256)) that Leeds ‘remain keen’ on landing Brereton Diaz despite other interest.

It’s stated that the Rovers star remains a serious ‘transfer option’ for Andrea Radrizzani, who is on the lookout for attacking reinforcements before Thursday night’s deadline.

### The Verdict: Better than Hwang

Leeds have been [heavily linked](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/19638681/everton-leeds-transfer-battle-hwang-hee-chan/) with a move for Wolves’ Hwang Hee-chan this summer, but Brereton Diaz would be a better option for Jesse Marsch in the final third.

The Chile international has netted [33](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ben-brereton-diaz/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/426192) goals during his four years at Blackburn, compared to the Molineux ace’s [five](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/hee-chan-hwang/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/292246) in his first season, and he has already made [three](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ben-brereton-diaz/leistungsdaten/spieler/426192) goal contributions in six Championshup outings so far this term, continuing his fine form of recent months.

[Dubbed](https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/former-blackburn-rovers-favourite-makes-big-ben-brereton-diaz-claim/amp/) a ‘catalyst’ for his team by former Blackburn defender [Colin Hendry](https://twitter.com/BraveheartCH?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor), Brereton Diaz would likely be a prolific signing for Leeds, and one which could catapult them towards comfortably avoiding another relegation battle this time around.
