# Leeds: Pete O’Rourke can see Che Adams moving to Elland Road

**[Leeds United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/) could well complete the signing of Southampton forward Che Adams this summer, says respected journalist [Pete O’Rourke.](https://twitter.com/SportsPeteO?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor)**

### The Lowdown: Adams links

Victor Orta has brought in [six](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/leeds-united/transfers/verein/399) new first-team players for Jesse Marsch this summer while bolstering the club’s academy ranks with moves for [Darko Gyabi](https://www.leedsunited.com/news/team-news/30027/darko-gyabi-completes-leeds-united-transfer) and [Sonny Perkins](https://www.leedsunited.com/news/team-news/30111/sonny-perkins-signs-for-leeds-united).

A new forward and a left-back are still on the to-do list at Elland Road, with [The Sun](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/19374024/leeds-che-adams-transfer-southampton/) claiming last weekend that Leeds are lining up a ‘shock move’ for Adams.

The Scotland international, hailed as [‘fantastic’](https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/18264043.southampton-manager-ralph-hasenhuttl-praises-che-adams/) by his manager Ralph Hasenhuttl, was also linked with the Whites back in 2020, and O’Rourke thinks Leeds may have better luck in their pursuit of the player this time around.

### The Latest: O’Rourke’s comments

When asked by *The Transfer Tavern* if he could see a move to Elland Road materialising this summer, O’Rourke said:

> “Yeah, I think he is somebody that is on the Leeds list of potential striker targets, Che Adams. Southampton are going on a different path right now, they seem to be sending a lot of young players with potential to try and improve.”

### The Verdict: Ideal target?

Leeds need to get the right sort of forward in before September 1, and Adams could fit the bill at Elland Road.

You’d expect that the Whites may not want to bring in a marquee player who could then hold back young talent Joe Gelhardt after he penned a [new five-year deal](https://www.leedsunited.com/news/team-news/30159/exciting-trio-sign-new-contracts-at-leeds-united#:~:text=Gelhardt%20has%20signed%20a%20deal,progressing%20into%20the%20first%20team.) and instead eye someone who has experience and can challenge Patrick Bamford.

Adams has scored [80 senior](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/che-adams/leistungsdaten/spieler/346779) goals in his career for club and country, [20](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/che-adams/leistungsdaten/spieler/346779) of which have come in the Premier League, is 26 years of age and would be able to provide cover on the [wing](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/che-adams/leistungsdaten/spieler/346779), so may well be the ideal target.
