# Leeds United: Fans excited after Mateusz Klich wins Championship goal of the month award

**Leeds United fans were excited after Mateusz Klich won the Championship’s goal of the month competition.**

His strike against Middlesbrough proved to be the winner with [over 70% of the public vote](https://twitter.com/LUFC/status/1207903456104779776).

It was strike that came from a short corner routine as Pablo Hernandez and Kalvin Phillips exchanged a few passes before the latter passed to Klich, who curled the ball brilliantly into the top corner.

His strike beat the likes of [Matheus Pereira](https://www.leedsunited.com/news/team-news/25972/mateusz-klich-s-boro-strike-named-championship-goal-of-the-month) from West Bromwich Albion, who curled in a brilliant free-kick, and [Sam Clucas](https://www.leedsunited.com/news/team-news/25972/mateusz-klich-s-boro-strike-named-championship-goal-of-the-month) of Stoke City, who scored from close to the half-way line.

Klich was on fire during that game against Boro as he scored a brace for the Whites in a 4-0 win with Patrick Bamford and Helder Costa rounding off a good afternoon.

Fans were over the moon after Klich was announced as the winner of the competition as they took to Twitter to react.

Here is a selection of tweets from the Yorkshire faithful:
