# Leeds United: Fans lash out at Jamie O’Hara after his comments on January business

**[Former Premier League midfielder](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jamie-ohara/detaillierteleistungsdaten/spieler/38090) Jamie O’Hara believes that Leeds United should have spent big on a striker in the January transfer window.**

Jean-Kevin Augustin was the centre-forward of choice last month as he joined the Whites on loan from Red Bull Leipzig. However, it seems as though O’Hara doesn’t believe the 22-year-old was enough as he claimed the side “should’ve bought big” during the winter window [(via talkSPORT)](https://twitter.com/talkSPORT/status/1226790406551220224).

The calls for a new target man came amid a drastic drop in form from Patrick Bamford and Eddie Nketiah’s return to Arsenal following his loan spell with the Yorkshire club. The 26-year-old went on a run of [six goals in 19 Championship games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patrick-bamford/leistungsdaten/spieler/183334) prior to January, while the north London outfit were far from pleased with the [20-year-old’s](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11670/11899404/eddie-nketiah-recalled-by-arsenal-from-leeds-loan-spell) lack of starts under Marcelo Bielsa.

O’Hara’s comments seem to suggest the club’s business wasn’t the best, something which has annoyed many of the Elland Road faithful. Let’s take a look at some of the replies:

> FFP doesn’t exist for Jamie. Reckon we should’ve paid £200M for a new squad

> We cant spend big!!! We would then be in breach of P&S and get a points deduction if we dont go up
>
> These pundits just speak without knowing the bigher picture of the topic in discussion

> What I take from this….Jamie doesn’t watch Championship football that often, has no idea who’s scored what and said something for the sake of saying it.

> Appreciate what your saying but FFP doesn’t allow teams to just go spend £20mil anymore

> 😴😴😴\
> “nEeD tO bUy BiG!” – No Championship club without parachute payments can buy big!\
> “HaPpEnS EvErY yEaR” – No just last season, other than that it was two runs aiming for the playoffs. 17/18 was easy run at the start of the season + the usual early leaders that fade.
