# Leeds United: Fans on Twitter are slating Ben White but it’s not what it seems

**Ben White’s impact since joining Leeds United on loan from Brighton over the course of the summer has been a crucial one.**

Indeed, the 22-year-old makes the most tackles per game out of any defender (via [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/322036/Show/Ben-White)) as well as the most interceptions of anyone in the Whites’ squad and his 3.5 clearances see him lead in that metric too. Clearly making an impact defensively, the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United have even been [linked](https://theathletic.co.uk/1384972/2019/11/20/a-white-wall-how-bielsa-built-the-football-leagues-meanest-defence-around-a-22-year-old-who-is-tempting-liverpool/) with making moves for him.

Described by [Leeds Live](https://www.leeds-live.co.uk/sport/leeds-united/leeds-united-player-ratings-reading-17321153) as ‘unflappable’ during last night’s dramatic late win away at Reading, notable journalist Jacqui Oatley took to Twitter to praise the player for his ability.

As per Oatley, a Leeds commentator actually compared the player to Manchester City’s big-money star John Stones only without some of the errors to have crept into his game for both [club](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2019/09/14/norwich-city-vs-manchester-city-premier-league-live-score-latest/) and [country](https://www.givemesport.com/1481197-jamie-carragher-absolutely-tore-into-john-stones-after-costly-error-v-netherlands) of late, with a Whites staff member reportedly boldly claiming White would start for the English national side in the 2022 World Cup.

Well, following such praise, a number of Leeds fans jokingly SLATED the player online in order to do their best to put potential buyers off as they try to keep him at Elland Road for as long as possible. Here’s a closer look.

> Can't imagine he'll make same progress next year again if he's not coached by Bielsa!
