# Leeds United: Fans react to pundit’s Ben White transfer claim

**Many Leeds United fans have reacted to a claim by pundit Beren Cross that the club already have a replacement for Ben White if the centre-back does not stay on at Elland Road.**

Joining the Yorkshire club on a [one-year loan deal](https://www.brightonandhoveindependent.co.uk/sport/football/ben-white-signs-new-contract-with-brighton-but-joins-leeds-united-on-loan-1-8981572) from Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion last summer, White has been one of the most in-form and consistent players for Marcelo Bielsa’s side – as per [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/19/Show/England-Leeds), he was won the second-most aerial duels at Leeds with 2.8 per game and made the most interceptions with 2.3 per game.

Such good performances have gained the youngster a sterling reputation, gaining interest from the likes of Liverpool, [who are said to be keen on making a summer bid.](https://theathletic.co.uk/1759030/2020/04/21/ben-white-leeds-brighton-liverpool/) Set to return to his parent club when the Championship season comes to an end, [The Whites are still hopeful that a second loan spell or permanent move could be made.](https://www.footballinsider247.com/exclusive-leeds-tipped-to-re-sign-ben-white-after-phil-hay-reveal/)

Whilst White’s future is unknown, [Cross](https://www.leeds-live.co.uk/sport/leeds-united/ben-white-leeds-united-berardi-18197207) has looked at a potential replacement in Gaetano Berardi, who has found playing time hard to come by this term. The Swiss 31-year-old will see his [contract expire this summer](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gaetano-berardi/profil/spieler/43084), but [Cross](https://www.leeds-live.co.uk/sport/leeds-united/ben-white-leeds-united-berardi-18197207) has called on the club to offer him a new deal to provide cover if White leaves the club.

Reacting to Cross’s tweet which shared his thoughts on Berardi replacing White, these Leeds fans gave their opinions…

> If the transfer market is paralysed with fear when we come out the other side of this, Orta could do a lot worse than sign Berardi up again as a stop gap. [#lufc](https://twitter.com/hashtag/lufc?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) [https://t.co/I6YqZEWM7k](https://t.co/I6YqZEWM7k)

> Totally agree, and I’d sign him up again anyway. Vast improvement from him, and as Pontus even said ; “I looked up to him, he always had my back…..”.
