# Leeds United: Fans relieved after dramatic victory over Birmingham City

**Leeds United fans were feeling relieved after the Yorkshire outfit’s dramatic late winner over Championship rivals Birmingham City.**

With West Bromwich Albion having been 2-0 down at home to Middlesbrough at the time, the Whites needed a winner to go top of the table on goal difference.

The game started out with Marcelo Bielsa’s side taking a two-goal lead through Helder Costa and Jack Harrison in the opening 21 minutes of the encounter [(via BBC)](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50882301).

However, [Jude Bellingham and Lukas Jutkiewicz](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50882301) hit back as Birmingham drew level on the 61st-minute mark.

Leeds then took the lead again, twice, through [Luke Ayling and Stuart Dallas](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50882301), but Pep Clotet’s side struck back thanks to [Jeremie Bela and Jutkiewicz](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50882301).

However, the Elland Road outfit ensured they left the Midlands with all three points when a cross from Ayling was turned into his own net by [Wes Harding](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50882301).

Fans couldn’t believe their eyes as they took to Twitter to react with astonishment to the nine-goal fixture.

Here is a selection of tweets from the Elland Road faithful:

> It’s 4:00am in Sydney and I reckon I’ve woken my neighbours on 6 different occasions with very different noises on each of those occasions in the last 45-minutes. What a heart attack game, but what an amazing 3 points! [#MOT](https://twitter.com/hashtag/MOT?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)
