# Leeds United: Fans take aim at Derby County after FFP charge

**Leeds United fans were taking aim at Derby County after they were charged with breaking financial fair play rules.**

It was revealed on Thursday afternoon that the Rams will face punishment from the EFL after they recorded insufficient losses over a three year period up to June 2018 [(via BBC)](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51142719). The spending rules set out by the league’s organisation allow teams to make losses up to [£39m](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51142719) over the aforementioned time span.

The side have been referred to an [Independent Disciplinary Commission](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51142719) and face the prospect of being handed a points deduction. With the club sitting just 10 points ahead of the relegation zone, they face the real prospect of dragged into a relegation dogfight for the remainder of the campaign.

The two clubs had a tense relationship with one another after Marcelo Bielsa sent a member of his coaching staff to spy on the Derbyshire side last season [(via The Guardian)](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/feb/18/leeds-united-fined-200000-derby-spying) and then the Rams beat them in the play-off semi-final while under the charge of Frank Lampard.

As a result, fans were quick to laugh at Phillip Cocu’s team after they were charged with wrongdoing as they took to Twitter to react. Here is a selection of tweets from the Elland Road faithful:

> Funny how [@SkySportsNews](https://twitter.com/SkySportsNews?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) haven’t even mentioned anything about it yet but couldn’t plaster [#spygate](https://twitter.com/hashtag/spygate?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) all over the channel quick enough… double standards… hope they get what they deserve [#karma](https://twitter.com/hashtag/karma?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)
