# Leeds United: Harrison transfer under the spotlight as option-to-buy detailed

**Leeds United’s acquisition of Manchester City winger Jack Harrison in the summer has been put back under the spotlight, after [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/harrison-contract-includes-permanent-clause/) claimed details of the Whites’ option-to-buy.**

Harrison joined the Elland Road outfit for a second consecutive one-season loan deal in July, with the West Yorkshire side [confirming](https://www.leedsunited.com/news/team-news/25105/leeds-united-sign-jack-harrison-ben-white) they had agreed a clause with the reigning Premier League champions that would see the Championship club offered the chance to purchase the forward in 2020.

Harrison was a key figure in Marcelo Bielsa’s first season at Leeds, with the Stoke-on-Trent born forward featuring in 42 games across all competitions, containing 39 league encounters including both play-off semi-final ties with Derby County ([TransferMarkt](https://www.leedsunited.com/news/team-news/25105/leeds-united-sign-jack-harrison-ben-white)).

His efforts, which returned four goals and four assists, left boss Bielsa confident that Harrison could soon become a £15million-rated talent, and was [insistent](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-bielsa-confident-leeds-youngster-whos-blown-him-away-will-be-worth-15m-next-year/) on his side securing the 22-year-old’s services for another term.

Among the discussions with Manchester City, Football Insider now claim the Whites pushed for a purchase clause to be instilled in the one-season agreement, with the price fixed below the Citizens’ previously alleged £20million asking price ([The Sun](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/9112774/man-city-jack-harrison-leeds-transfer-loan/)).

It is not stipulated the precise sum Leeds and City agreed on, although it is expected to be well in excess of £10million, as Harrison’s £51,000-a-week contract ([Spotrac](https://www.spotrac.com/epl/manchester-city-f.c/jack-harrison-24966/)) at the Etihad Stadium has a further three-years to run.

Leeds securing an option to buy Harrison next year at a set amount could look to be one of their better pieces of business this summer come 2020, as the Manchester United product has continued to hold down a regular role in Bielsa’s plans – starting each Championship game this term ([TransferMarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jack-harrison/leistungsdaten/spieler/417346/plus/0?saison=2019)).

The former England U21 international has also recorded 19.6 per cent of Leeds’ successful dribbles in the second-tier so far this season, which is the joint-most with Pablo Hernandez and the best per 90 minutes of any Whites player to have played more than 100 minutes, according to data collected by [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/19/Show/England-Leeds).

Harrison has also played the third-most key passes (9) and fashioned the sixth-most shots (8) of any United man.

In contrast, [Ben White](https://www.footballinsider247.com/leeds-wanted-white-to-sign-permanently/) – who was named the [PFA](https://www.thepfa.com/thepfa/pfa-fans-player-of-the-month) Fans’ Player of the Month for August – has been a vital member of Bielsa’s backline, but the Elland Road outfit failed to secure an option-to-buy for the centre-back, and will have to hit the transfer market next summer to replace the Poole-born ace.
