# Leeds United: Jose Campana’s agent phoned the club for deadline day move

**Details of Leeds United’s failed deadline day move for Jose Campana have emerged via [Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/agent-called-leeds-united-trying-build-transfer-whites-made-deadline-day-attempt-move/).**

According to a report from [Eldesmarque](https://eldesmarque.com/valencia/levante-ud/263325-el-leeds-aprieta-y-presenta-una-oferta-en-firme-por-campana), Leeds made a bid for the Spanish midfielder prior to the closure of the European transfer window last week.

A failed swoop for Bayern Munich midfielder [Michael Cuisance](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-transfer-rumours/leeds-united-details-behind-michael-cuisances-failed-move-to-elland-road/)seemed to push Marcelo Bielsa towards a potential move for the Levante midfielder.

Failing to bring Campana to Elland Road as well though, Bielsa instead secured a deadline day switch for Brazilian attacker [Raphinha](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league/raphinha-tipped-for-number-10-role-noel-whelan/), and with the domestic deadline approaching, interest in Norwich City’s [Todd Cantwell](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league/leeds-united-todd-cantwell-move-now-appears-unlikely/) continues.

### Agent attempted final call for Campana move

With Campana’s failed move to Yorkshire now in the background, details over his agent’s attempts to make a move happen have now emerged.

Spanish media outlet [SuperDeporte](https://www.superdeporte.es/levante/2020/10/09/unica-llamada-campana-15-millones/474079.html) claim that Leeds were interested but only after a call from the player’s agent to Elland Road officials.

The 27-year-old – who previously spent time in English football having had a loan spell with Crystal Palace back in 2013 – is currently playing in La Liga, having featured in [all three](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jose-campana/profil/spieler/120095) of Levante’s opening league games this term so far.

### Missing out on Campana could be softened by Cantwell arrival

Jose Campana would have been a superb signing for Leeds, after gaining an impressive seven league assists last term and averaging a whopping 3.8 dribbles per game this season as well as 1.8 key passes, via [Whoscored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/91214/History/Jos%C3%A9-Campa%C3%B1a).

Bielsa seems to be seeking a long term replacement for the ageing Pablo Hernandez and it does look like a final move for Cantwell could develop, even if it doesn’t come in this transfer window.

A younger option than Campana, the Norwich City man could be the perfect final piece of the puzzle for Bielsa.
