# Leeds United: Kalvin Phillips travels with the squad for West Ham clash

**Many Leeds United supporters will surely be buzzing to see that Kalvin Phillips looks set to be involved for their match against West Ham on Monday night.**

### The latest on Phillips

Phillips hasn’t featured since he made his [200th appearance](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kalvin-phillips/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/351749/verein/399) for the club on 8 February due to injury ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kalvin-phillips/leistungsdaten/spieler/351749)). A photo emerged on Twitter from [@AllLeedsTV](https://twitter.com/AllLeedsTV/status/1368618969171640325?s=20) showing the English international travelling to the fixture with the squad, supporting this picture with the caption ‘You love to see it’.

### This is a huge boost for Leeds

Marcelo Bielsa’s side face an in-form West Ham who are surprisingly battling for a Champions League spot ([SofaScore](https://www.sofascore.com/tournament/football/england/premier-league/17)). They have also been scoring plenty, with 40 goals in the division this term. Therefore, the possibility of Phillips being back in the side is a huge boost for Leeds.

The 25-year-old defensive midfielder loves to get stuck in and break up opposition attacks, as evidenced by his match averages of 2.7 tackles, 1.6 interceptions and 1.8 clearances this season ([WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/270446/Show/Kalvin-Phillips)) – his tackling average is the [second-highest in the squad](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/19/Show/England-Leeds). It’s no surprise, then, that former Whites striker Noel Whelan has said that Phillips is an “[integral](https://www.footballinsider247.com/whelan-phillips-is-facing-lengthy-leeds-lay-off-after-injury-update/)” player to Marcelo Bielsa’s plans.

To have the [£24.3m](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kalvin-phillips/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/351749/verein/399)-rated ace fit again will not just be boost for the game against the Hammers, but for the rest of the campaign as Leeds look to [aim](https://www.sofascore.com/tournament/football/england/premier-league/17) for a top-half finish in their first season back in the Premier League.
