# Leeds United: Kevin Phillips tips Leeds to sign Diego Costa

**Kevin Phillips believes that Leeds United should look into signing experienced veteran Diego Costa, who is currently a [free agent.](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9095553/Atletico-Madrid-TERMINATE-Diego-Costas-contract-ex-Chelsea-striker-released-free-agent.html)**

### What Phillips had to say about Costa

Speaking about Diego Costa via [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/pundit-exclusive-leeds-tipped-to-sign-spain-international-after-huge-development/), Phillips [said](https://www.footballinsider247.com/pundit-exclusive-leeds-tipped-to-sign-spain-international-after-huge-development/): “They might need someone like Diego Costa, he might be looking at Leeds and thinking: ‘Look at the way they play football, I could score goals in there’.

“I know he’s been linked with Wolves but he’s a free agent, isn’t he, so it would not surprise me with Bielsa if he pitched up at Leeds.”

### **Would this be a good signing?**

Costa has had a successful career as a whole, having scored 181 goals throughout his career, including 58 goals for Premier League side Chelsea ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/diego-costa/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/44779)).

Antonio Conte has been full of praise for the 6 foot 1 beast in the past, [saying:](https://www.therealchelseafans.com/2017/04/conte-heaps-massive-praise-on-diego-costa/) “He must continue to work in this way with great desire and work-rate and I’m sure he can score in every game.”

Leeds meanwhile have already got Patrick Bamford and Rodrigo, with the former having a great campaign as he has scored ten goals in the division ([WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/109670/Show/Patrick-Bamford)).

Costa could be an excellent experienced option to offer something a little different to Bamford, particularly as the fixtures stack up in the second half of the season and rotation is required.
