The Lowdown: Contact made
It was reported earlier this week that the Elland Road outfit have been in contact with Milan over De Ketelaere, and have asked to be kept in the loop regarding his situation.
Both Victor Orta and Jesse Marsch remain big fans, and would be keen on a move if he was available, even if just on loan.
Andrea Radrizzani even admitted that the club agreed on a €40m (£34.4m) fee with Club Brugge in the summer for his signature, but De Ketelaere ended up moving to the San Siro.
The Latest: Leeds have ‘reached out’
Speaking to GiveMeSport, Jacobs has shared that the Whites have ‘reached out’ again for De Ketelaere ahead of January, and are ‘still’ interested in his signature:
“I think one name to mention is still Charles De Ketelaere.
“Leeds have reached out to Milan to see whether anything is or isn’t possible and they’ve previously been linked with De Ketelaere.
“He had a standout 2021/2022 campaign for Brugge. He scored 18 goals, got 10 assists and then, of course, he only just joined Milan.”
The Verdict: Loan would be perfect
Thus, getting him in on loan in January could be perfect, as if it does not work out, the 21-year-old could then go back to Italy.
Lauded as a player who possesses ‘stunning’ technical qualities, Belgian De Ketelaere has even been compared to Manchester City superstar and fellow countryman Kevin De Bruyne (BBC), after a stunning 2021/22 campaign with Club Brugge where he managed 18 goals and 10 assists in 49 matches in total over all competitions (Transfermarkt).
Now at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Leeds may be able to take another look at him ahead of January and hope that he can regain some of the form he showed last season.
