Former Hull City striker Dean Windass has exclusively told The Transfer Tavern that he’s been left surprised by Leeds’ lack of transfer activity.
Despite finishing ninth last season and only a couple of points off Europe, Marcelo Bielsa has been quiet in the market, making just a handful of additions to his squad.
Should Leeds sign Ryan Kent?
Highly-rated left-back Junior Firpo has joined from Barcelona, whilst Jack Harrison finally secured a permanent move to Elland Road following three successful seasons on loan.
Meanwhile, Bielsa has added Kristoffer Klaesson to his squad to provide back-up for Illan Meslier after Kiko Casilla was loaned out.
But besides the addition of Firpo, Bielsa has been unable to significantly improve his starting XI ahead of their season-opener at Manchester United this weekend.
Leeds have more than three weeks to complete any more transfer business, but Windass has been left surprised by Bielsa’s lack of signings before the new campaign.
He told The Transfer Tavern:
“We spoke last season about what players he would bring in. I was excited, but I’m very surprised and probably Leeds United fans are. But they’ve got a month, three-and-a-half weeks left.”
