Leeds: Frank McAvennie reacts to Raphinha update -Leeds United News

Pundit Frank McAvennie has been giving his thoughts on Leeds United winger Raphinha and the possibility of a summer move to Barcelona, as per Football Insider.

The Lowdown: Barcelona keen on Raphinha…

The 25-year-old has been Leeds’ best performer this season, contributing to 12 league goals, resulting in rumours over an Elland Road exit.

Raphinha has been heavily linked with Barcelona, who – according to Spanish outlet Sport – are readying a second bid worth an initial €40m (£33.9m) with various add-ons.

The Whites star will be available for just €25m (£20.9m) in the summer should the club suffer relegation, with Barcelona fully aware of that release clause.

The Latest: McAvennie reacts to Raphinha latest

Asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on the Brazilian’s future, McAvennie believes that Raphinha will be ‘asking to leave’ Elland Road over the coming months. The 62-year-old said:

“Leeds or Barcelona? I mean, oh my god, no brainer. Just look at Aubameyang, he’s gone over there and he’s worked wonders. Raphinha will want a bit of that.

“I don’t think he’s set the world on fire this season to be honest with you. He’s a talented boy but have we seen enough for Barcelona to get him?

“I’m not sure but I know one thing for sure, he will be asking to leave if Barcelona do want him.

“Fighting relegation with Leeds or playing in the Champions League with Barcelona? That’s an easy one for me so if that bid comes in, he wants that conversation.”

The Verdict: Exit inevitable?

It looks as if a move away from Yorkshire for Raphinha this summer is a serious possibility, with his agent Deco in advanced talks with the Catalan giants.

Hopefully Leeds will be in a position at the end of the season where they can be in control of talks by securing their Premier League status in their final seven games.

Will Raphinha still be a Leeds player next season?

Yes, he'll stay!

Not a chance!

Should Raphinha help Jesse Marsch’s side to remain in the top flight, the Whites will be able to demand more than the £20.9m fee they would get if they dropped back down to the Championship. Everyone may get what they want in the end, but expect more twists and turns over the coming months.
