Leeds United sporting director Victor Orta is readying a new contract offer for Jack Harrison, according to LeedsLive's Beren Cross.

The Lowdown: Summer interest

Harrison will be entering the final 18 months of his Elland Road deal in January and was linked with a move to Newcastle United over the summer.

The Magpies made two bids for the winger, the second being worth more than £20m, with Leeds rejecting both offers. Harrison has been a regular under Jesse Marsch in his first full season in charge, contributing to four Premier League goals in 13 games.

The Latest: Cross’ update

Cross took to Twitter on Monday evening to provide an update on Harrison.

He revealed that contract talks are set to begin ‘in the coming weeks’, with the LeedsLive reporter adding that Orta is readying an offer.

The Verdict: Good news

It seems as if the Whites want to get Harrison tied down to a new contract before the New Year, which can only be viewed as good news.

Failing to do that may only increase speculation over his future in 2023 and could tempt the likes of Newcastle to revisit their interest.

Hopefully, talks between Harrison’s representatives and Orta can go smoothly in the coming weeks, and fresh terms can be confirmed relatively soon and result in the player rediscovering the form he showed in the opening weeks of the campaign.
