Brighton appear to be leading Leeds United in the race to sign Mohamed Camara this summer, according to The Athletic.

The Lowdown: Direct contact

Leeds are on the hunt to sign replacements for Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha, who appear to be closing in on big-money exits.

Camara has been linked to become the third player this summer to swap RB Salzburg for Leeds after Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen, with the Whites making ‘direct contact’ with the midfielder’s representatives.

Brighton were also name-checked with an interest, and it looks as if they could be about to hand Leeds chiefs a big transfer blow.

The Latest: Transfer update

The Athletic shared a story on Wednesday morning, looking at Hamed Traore as a potential replacement for Raphinha.

They provided an update on Camara within their report too, claiming that the Mali international ‘appears to be heading for Brighton, not Leeds’.

The Verdict: More bad news for Marsch

Camara is reportedly valued at around £17m-£25m and has been given time by Salzburg to resolve his future. He previously worked under Jesse Marsch in Austria and you’d expect would be guaranteed regular game time at Elland Road if the manager was keen to bring him in.

However, it seems as if he could be heading south with a move to Brighton, which wouldn't be ideal with the new season fast approaching. It would also see Leeds handed another midfield transfer blow following Southampton’s pending swoop for Romeo Lavia, as Marsch may be getting a little tired of seeing his targets join top flight rivals.
