Respected journalist Pete O'Rourke has shed some light on the Leeds United's links to Southampton striker Che Adams.

The lowdown: Whites linked

The Whites have been linked to Adams in recent weeks as Victor Orta attempts to further bolster the attacking ranks at Jesse Marsch's disposal.

The 26-year-old Scotland international has directly contributed to 33 goals in 110 outings for Southampton since making the switch from Birmingham but faces an uncertain future on the south past.

Already linked to Everton, Newcastle and Nottingham Forest in the window, one well-informed onlooker has suggested that Leeds could hold an advantage in the pursuit...

The latest: 'I'm sure...'

Speaking to The Transfer Tavern, O'Rourke has suggested that the Whites being a 'more established' Premier League outfit could be the key when it comes to the 19-cap star.

He said: “Yeah, I'm sure that goes into the thinking. I'm sure the fact that Leeds are more established than Nottingham Forest who have just come up, it's going to be a big transitional season for them obviously with so many new players coming into the team as well.

“It does look like it's going to be a hard battle for them to stay up, while Leeds have obviously lost a couple of key players in Phillips and Raphinha. So again, it could be a hard season for them as well. But I think Leeds are a massive club.

“I think for Che it's good to have both of them clubs after you but I guess a lot of it comes down to what the project is and what the manager's plans are that will persuade him where he wants to move if he does move.”

The verdict: Fingers crossed

Linked with a double raid of Watford for Joao Pedro and Ismaila Sarr, it seems certain that the Whites will be adding more striking options to the Thorp Arch ranks before the September 1 deadline passes.

Last season, Adams Sofascore rating whilst winning 4.5 duels on average per game - highlighting the battling qualities that epitomise the frontman.

Hailed as 'terrific' and a 'clever player' by Scotland legend Ally McCoist, the £16.2million valued ace can also play on the left and right-wing and therefore would be a brilliant signing for Leeds.
