Leeds: Connor Douglas impressing for U18s -Leeds United News

Leeds United teenager Connor Douglas has begun the season in fine form in the U18s Premier League.

The Lowdown: Perkins and Joseph on fire

The Whites brought in Sonny Perkins from West Ham over the summer, and the forward appears to have settled into Thorp Arch with ease.

Perkins has scored seven times in just six Premier League 2 games for the U21s and also netted five in three for England’s U19s during the recent international break.

Meanwhile, Mateo Joseph, who arrived in January, has scored eight times in six Premier League 2 games, grabbing a hat-trick last time out against Stoke City.

The Latest: Douglas also impressing

It isn’t just Perkins and Joseph who have been in free-scoring form, though, with LUFC Youth sharing some stats regarding Douglas on Twitter.

The teenager, who has mainly been playing on the wing, has scored against Stoke City, Nottingham Forest and Blackburn Rovers, while also providing assists against Liverpool and Sunderland.

The Verdict: U21s soon?

Douglas appears to be going from strength to strength in the U18s, so the logical next step could be a place in Michael Skubala’s U21s squad over the coming months.

The Whites already have plenty of attacking talent in the U21s, with Perkins and Joseph prime examples, however, it would be good to see his form rewarded with a place in Skubala’s squad from time to time, whilst also being allowed to continue his development with the U18s.

It will be interesting to see if he can keep up his free-scoring form, but all the signs are extremely positive when it comes to attacking talent at Thorp Arch.
