Danny Mills believes that Stuart Dallas' rumoured new contract at Leeds United is richly deserved, describing the midfielder as 'outstanding'.

The Whites have excelled on their return to the Premier League this season, picking up some memorable results and comfortably ensuring safety. A number of individuals have shone for Leeds, but Dallas is arguably a contender in the Player of the Year stakes following an exceptional campaign.

The 30-year-old has shone in various roles, scoring seven goals and registering two assists, and a new contract is rumoured to be coming his way.

Dallas contract richly deserved, says Mills

Speaking to Football Insider, Mills waxed lyrical over Dallas, saying that a new deal would be fully deserved:

"That’s what football should be. If you do well you get rewarded. You shouldn’t be rewarded for failure, you shouldn’t be rewarded for poor performances.

"He’s been outstanding this season. Good luck to him and he deserves whatever rise he gets."

Transfer Tavern take

Dallas is a priceless player for Leeds, not always standing out as a star turn to neutral supporters but doing so much for the team in terms of industry and underrated quality (winning 2.1 tackles per game), as outlined by his two goals in the 2-1 win at Manchester City. Indeed, his seven-goal haul in the league is bettered only by centre-forward Patrick Bamford in Bielsa's squad.

The 30-year-old isn't getting any younger, but there is no reason why he can't be James Milner-esque and stick around in the top flight well into his 30s given his fitness levels.

A new contract is just reward for a superb season, as Dallas continues to go from strength to strength at Elland Road.
