Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier has now been linked with an exit from Elland Road, with Bayern Munich said to be interested in a deal...

The Lowdown: Meslier's performances

Meslier was in inspired form for Leeds throughout last season, making a total of 143 saves in the Premier League, the highest amount of any goalkeeper, proving vital in his side managing to avoid relegation.

As such, it is no surprise that there is increased interest in the 6'4 shot stopper, with fellow English clubs and teams from across the continent now said to be eyeing a deal.

While Jesse Marsch will undoubtedly want to keep the 22-year-old at Elland Road, the fact that he is contracted until 2026 means that Leeds will be able to hold out for a big transfer fee, should they decide to cash in.

The Latest: Bayern interested

According to a report from Media Foot, Manchester United and Chelsea have already made their interest in the Frenchman clear, but Bayern have now also entered the picture.

The Bavarian club are looking for a new goalkeeper due to Manuel Neuer suffering a leg break while skiing, and they are said to have contacted the player's agent, Yvon Pouliquen.

The Verdict: Concern for Leeds

Given how important Meslier proved to be in Leeds avoiding a return to the Championship last season, they will be concerned about the interest mounting in one of their prized assets.

Football writer Phil Hay has previously hailed the £22k-per-week earner as being 'top class', and he has put in some performances befitting that description during this campaign, namely in his side's 2-1 victory against Liverpool in late October.

The former Lorient man was by far and away the best player on the pitch, receiving a 9.0 SofaScore rating for his efforts, making nine saves, seven of which came from inside the box, while also making four clearances and three punches.

A goalkeeper of this quality would be very hard for Marsch to replace, so the American will be hoping that Meslier keeps his focus and doesn't get his head turned by one of the top teams that are interested in him.
