Leeds United are in the race to sign Stuttgart striker Sasa Kalajdzic, according to Manuel Veth.

The Lowdown: Kalajdzic profiled

Kalajdzic, who stands at 6 foot 7, is 25 years of age and has been with Stuttgart since 2019. The Austria international has scored 40 senior goals throughout his career for club and country.

Labelled by journalist Marcel Reif as a player who can do ‘crazy’ things in the air, Kalajdzic is yet to score in the Bundesliga this season but has registered three assists in as many games, and it looks as if Leeds are looking at the towering forward.

Veth took to Twitter on Tuesday morning to provide an update on Kalajdzic, who has been heavily linked with a move to Wolves.

The reporter said that Wolves ‘really want’ the striker, however, both Leeds and Manchester United are also ‘in the race’.

The Verdict: Avoid?

Kalajdzic has only had one season where he has hit double figures in the league, so there’s no guarantee he would hit the ground running at Elland Road.

He also appears to be suited to a side that plays the long ball more than the Whites do, with Kalajdzic ranking highly in aerials won and extremely low when it comes to progressive carries and dribbles completed. [FBRef]

Stuttgart also want €25m for Kalajdzic, so Leeds and Victor Orta could be better off looking elsewhere in their pursuit of a forward.
