Leeds United is a potential destination for Marseille forward Bamba Dieng, according to Robin Bairner.

The Lowdown: Dieng profiled

Labelled a “super” player by the French journalist, the 22-year-old is primarily a centre-forward who can also play on the wing.

The Senegal international has made 42 appearances for Marseille, scoring nine goals, but he was absent from the squad for Saturday evening’s clash against Nantes.

The Whites have reportedly scouted Dieng recently, and it looks as if a late summer move could be on the cards.

The Latest: Bairner’s claim

Talking to MOT Leeds News, Bairner was asked if Dieng would fancy a move to Yorkshire, to which the journalist said:

“Yeah. It could be a nice move for him.

“Looks like he won’t get much of an opportunity to play at OM this season, which is a shame because he needs someone to show a bit of confidence in him.”

The Verdict: Alongside Gnonto?

It looks as if Leeds are currently working on bringing in teenage forward Wilfried Gnonto from FC Zurich, who Jesse Marsch described as a long-term project.

However, the Whites are also in need of a senior forward before the September 1 deadline due to Patrick Bamford and Joe Gelhardt's recent injury issues, and Dieng could well be that man.

A number of Premier League clubs have shown an interest in the Marseille player, so Leeds could be landing a coup if they manage to get a deal over the line.

Dieng would be able to provide competition to Bamford and Gelhardt, while also giving Marsch another option out wide, and you’d like to think that the 22-year-old's soaring Transfermarkt valuation will only increase with time.
