Leeds United goalkeeper Kiko Casilla has emerged as a target for Spanish club Granada.

The Lowdown: Elche loan

Casilla spent the 2021/22 campaign on loan with Elche after the Whites brought in Kristoffer Klaesson as backup to Illan Meslier last summer.

The 35-year-old made just 16 appearances last term before becoming second choice, keeping five clean sheets. He wasn’t part of the 26-man squad which headed to Australia for a pre-season tour, and it looks as if he could follow in the footsteps of Raphinha with a move to Spain, with Jesse Marsch's side agreeing a fee with Barcelona for the Brazil winger.

The Latest: Granada linked with Casilla

Sport Witness relayed an update from Grada3 in the last 48 hours regarding Casilla on Wednesday.

They claimed that Granada are after a ‘keeper this summer, with the Spanish veteran now on their list of targets. The report adds that the final 12 months of his contract at Elland Road could even be terminated.

The Verdict: Get him gone

Labelled a “complete liability” by Leeds TV podcaster Oscar Mario, Casilla clearly isn’t in Jesse Marsch’s plans for the upcoming campaign, otherwise, you’d expect he would have travelled down under.

Therefore, moving the Spaniard on over the coming weeks could be best for all involved.

Leeds are also on the hunt for a new experienced ‘keeper of their own, with Ben Foster’s name mentioned, which shows again that Casilla doesn’t appear to be in the frame for Marsch’s first full season in charge at Elland Road.
