Leeds United have reportedly made an offer to sign FC Metz’s William Mikelbrencis.

The Lowdown: Mikelbrencis profiled

Mikelbrencis is a France U18 international and primarily plays as a right-back. Valued at £1.8m by Transfermarkt, the 18-year-old is represented by the same agency as Premier League forwards Roberto Firmino and Joelinton.

He’s progressed through Metz’s academy and has made 12 senior appearances for the club, five of which have come as a right-midfielder.

Mikelbrencis’ contract with the French side expires in less than 12 months’ time, and it looks as if Leeds are ready to bring him to Yorkshire.

The Latest: Leeds ‘offer’

Acccording to L’Equipe journalist Loic Tanzi, the Whites have made an ‘offer’ for Mikelbrencis.

Leeds face competition from German side Hamburg, though, who would be prepared to offer first-team football straightaway.

The Verdict: Priorities…

It’s good to see that the club are always on the search for new young talent to bolster their Thorp Arch ranks, however, Leeds could still do with some senior additions before the deadline.

A new forward and left-back appear needed for Jesse Marsch, who is fairly light in both areas. Centre-back Pascal Struijk has been used at left-back, while winger Dan James was brought on up front following Patrick Bamford's injury issue on Saturday.

Should two first-team players arrive, then supporters may be more open to a move for Mikelbrencis, but at this moment in time, rumours of a deal may not go down too well.
