Marcelo Bielsa has denied claims that he has agreed to stay at Leeds United until the summer of 2023, providing an update on his future.

The Argentine has been a legendary figure at Elland Road, transforming the fortunes of the Whites within just a couple of seasons.

Bielsa has led Leeds back into the Premier League, comfortably ensuring survival on their first season back in the top flight, playing an exciting brand of attacking football along the way.

Supporters will understandably be desperate for the 65-year-old to stay at the club for many years to come, given the success he has achieved.

Bielsa plays down rumours over future

Despite it being reported that Bielsa would be staying on as manager until 2023, the Leeds boss gave an update (via The Athletic) to the press on Thursday, denying the claims:

"That information is not real. I ignore the origin. Those things, either the club can say or I can say it, we possess the information.

"In all cases, if there was any info to give, I would give it."

Transfer Tavern take

Fans shouldn't be too concerned about Bielsa comments, considering he hasn't hinted about leaving, but it would be far more positive news if he committed his long-term future.

His current deal only runs until this summer, which is a worry, but we feel it would be a huge shock if he decided to leave in the coming months.

There is a feeling that Bielsa is still in the middle of working his magic at Elland Road, potentially masterminding a European push next season. The job is half finished so to speak, and if the Argentine could extend his stay and push the club into a consistent top-ten side, he would leave a permanent legend.
