Leeds United target Mateo Joseph Fernandez has made some significant changes to his Instagram profile, with a move to Elland Road in January looking increasingly likely, LeedsAllOver report.

The Lowdown: Whites agree deal

Fernandez is 18 years of age and is a Spanish attacker who is currently on the books of La Liga side Espanyol.

His current contract is set to expire in the summer, with Fernandez picking up the Honor Division’s Ballon d'Or for the 2020/21 season.

Radio Futbol journalist Diego Balbontin has stated that Fernandez is ‘set’ to move to Yorkshire in January, with Leeds allegedly reaching an agreement over a winter window transfer.

The Latest: Social media changes

LeedsAllOver shared a story on Wednesday afternoon, highlighting some changes to the striker’s Instagram bio.

They claimed that the teenager has removed Espanyol from his profile while adding that he is on the books of Wasserman, the same agency as Leeds duo Adam Forshaw and Crysencio Summerville.

The Verdict: Hint?

Removing Espanyol from his profile could be a hint that a move to Yorkshire is just around the corner.

Should that be the case and Fernandez does move to Thorp Arch, you’d expect he’d be placed into Mark Jackson’s Under-23 side to start with.

Leeds have the likes of Joe Gelhardt and Sam Greenwood as attacking options in the U23’s, so who knows, the Whites may decide to send the latter out on loan for the second half of the season following talks with Swansea City, granting some senior playing time for Greenwood and minutes under Jackson for Fernandez.
